How bacon helped me win at the races
publication date: Jul 29, 2008
Hi
I know I'm supposed to be taking a break, but I had to
share this with you . . .
Last Sunday I went to the races and won!
Yes, this self-confessed gambling dunce actually
walked away from the races with more money in his
pocket than he started with.
A first!
Heloise and I were at Stratford races because of
Pegasus Racing Club. As you probably know, I co-
publish Pegasus' along with John Hamer - the brains
behind the tipping service. We were sponsoring one
of the races (our first time), so John and his family
along with Heloise and my parents met for lunch
before the main event.
Thankfully John didn't have to 'perform' on the day.
As none of the races qualified under the Pegasus
system criteria he didn't have to feel the pressure of
picking the winners.
So how did I pick my winning horse?
Was it pure luck? Nope.
Did I study the form? Did I 'eck!
Keep this to yourself, but I had 'insider' knowledge . . .
You see, as we sat down to lunch before the first race,
a middle-aged couple approached our table.
"I thought I recognised you!"
Steve and Mandy were old neighbours who I hadn't
seen in at least 10 years.
(I also used to work in their bacon-packing factory in
the Summer break from college many years ago - but
that's another story.)
Anyway, it turns out there's a lot of money in bacon,
as they owned 5 racehorses . . . and one of them was
running in the 3:40!
"Don't put your house on it, but if the odds shorten to
5-1, then it's worth an each way bet."
With my fond memories of getting up at the crack of
dawn to stand in a freezer shifting huge slabs of
frozen meat, I decided to trust their advice.
Well it paid off! The odds did shorten exactly to 5-1,
so I put £10 each way (yes, I am still cautious with
my luck), the horse duly romped home and I picked
up £40 winnings!
Oh, how I wish I'd put £100 on it!
Of course, this was a complete one-off and I don't
think following tip-offs from neighbours is going to
offer anyone a long-term way of making money from
the horses. But - and you can see where I'm going
with this - I can fully recommend Pegasus Racing
Club! ;-) This has been producing regular winners for
more than 3 years and is generating some amazing
feedback from happy punters!

Before I go . . .
Today is the first Roxy Trader seminar!
I'm in the office early as we're holding an exciting
new seminar in our London offices today and it
should be a lot of fun.
I'll report back on how it went and track the results of
the students over the coming months.
You may recall that Roxanne Cross is supremely
confident that she can help her students to become
successful financial traders and turn £100 into £5,600
in 10 weeks. A big claim that I would normally be
sceptical of - but Roxy is such a force of nature that I
have no doubt she'll achieve it!
Have a great weekend
Cheers
Nick
