Oh dear, I've been well and truly slapped back!
My comments on the current postal strike have not been
received too well! I've had some pretty heated emails from
workers who say I have't a clue about the situation.
Fair enough. I admit that I do not know the full history of
the conflict. And yes, I do appreciate that it is one of the lowest
paid jobs in the UK.
Apologies to you. I didn't mean to offend.
I've had emails from those who are in different unions and
HAVE braved picket lines gone into work.
Ditto. My apologies to you too.
Worst still my busines partbner (wife) has expressed her
extreme displeasure with the tone I took and has asked
me to apolgise unreservedly.
So here we go . . .
I am sorry to have suggested that ALL postal workers should
be physical abused (that bit was of course a joke) or lose their job.
It was a silly overreaction caused by my emotional distress caused
by heavy financial losses. Far more frustrating, is that the publication
I am passionate about will not get to my subscribers on time.
Nevertheless I should not have simplified the complicated issues
between workers, unions and their bosses.
I hope we can now all hug and make up and hope that this dispute
can end soon and all of us go back to work . . .
